Several major UK retailers have announced their opening hours for Boxing Day 2025, with some choosing to remain closed to give staff a break after the Christmas period. Home Bargains, The Range and others will shut their doors on December 26, while B&M and Primark will open with reduced hours.
Home Bargains confirmed all its UK stores will be closed on Boxing Day, as well as on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The discount retailer said the decision was made so employees could spend time with their families. A spokesperson said: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment. As a family-run business, we understand the importance of spending time with family and friends, particularly over the holidays.” Stores will close at 5pm on Christmas Eve and reopen on December 27, with normal hours until December 31. They will close again on New Year's Day and resume normal service on January 2.
B&M will open on Boxing Day, with most stores operating from 8am to 6pm, according to its website. The chain will also be open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, with closing times dropping from 11pm to 10pm from December 27. Shoppers are advised to check local store times online for the most accurate information.
Primark will open on Boxing Day but with reduced hours. A spokesperson said: “The opening hours of our UK stores will vary by store over the festive period, so shoppers should check their local store times on our website to plan their visits.” The fashion and homeware retailer will be closed on Christmas Day.
The Range will close all branches on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, giving staff a break. In an Instagram post, the company said: “Quick heads up! Our stores will be closed on Boxing Day because even we need a little break from all the festive fun.” Customers can still shop online for Boxing Day bargains on December 26.
