Boots has launched its 24 Days of Skin Skincare Advent Calendar, priced at £70, with contents valued at £303.56 when bought separately. The calendar includes 24 products for the countdown to Christmas, with 21 full-sized items from brands including Beauty of Joseon, Anua, The INKEY List, Byoma, RoC and e.l.f., alongside three smaller beauty treats.
Full-sized products and brand highlights
Among the full-sized products is a PRAI Beauty Ageless Throat and Decolletage Crème (30ml), which aims to 'lift and tighten sagging skin', according to the brand. Shoppers will also find Korean skincare, retinol eye cream, SPF, cleansers and lip products inside.
The calendar has been curated around skincare, with products including the full-sized Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water, Byoma Phyto-Mucin Glow Serum and Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Mist. Other full-sized highlights include RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Eye Cream, The INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm, Curel Moisture Repair Eye Cream and Genabelle PDRN Rejuvenating Cream.
SPF, bodycare and value
There are also several SPF products, including a full-sized HABI Sunny Shield SPF 40 and Tocobo Cotton Soft Sun Stick SPF50 PA++++, alongside bodycare and lip products from Q+A, Burt's Bees and Boots. Completing the 24-piece line-up are Clean Skin Club Clean Towels, Mediheal Collagen Ampoule Pads and Nursem Caring Hand Cream.
Boots says the contents are worth £303.56 when products are bought separately, with the value of non-full-sized products calculated using the price per ml of their corresponding full-sized versions. The advent calendar is available online only and while stocks last.
Shopper reactions and alternatives
The calendar has been rated highly by shoppers. One person said: "I cannot believe this is £70! The amount of full-sized products is insane. I actually think this is better than the more expensive Boots advent this year. It’s full of all my favorite products, plus some new ones I’ve never tried. Blown away with the amount of Kbeauty products in here too!"
Another added: "I bought this last year, it is such good value. All the products are quality products and all good sizes." A third commented: "The Boots 24 Days of Skin Skincare Advent Calendar is absolutely fantastic! It contains only skincare products, which is exactly what I was looking for. Although there were no negative reviews for the calendar, shoppers did have some hesitations with individual products. For example, with the Inkey List Cleansing Balm, one person said: "The product is great but hard to get out of the tubing as it is so thick." Another added: "This is one of my all-time favourites, but for some reason, the formula has been changed and now it’s gritty. I thought it was maybe just a bad batch, but others have said the same. It’s an amazing cleanser and it’s super affordable and great for sensitive skin but was disappointed about the formula change."
Alternatively, there is the Clarins 12 Day Advent Calendar for £63.33, down from £95, at Debenhams. This one includes a variety of Clarins' 'most iconic and beloved products', including a full-sized Beauty Flash Balm and Lip Comfort Oil. Next has its 25 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar for £150, but it's worth more than £576, with products from Elemis, Liz Earle, Estee Lauder and a variety of others.
