Booker's 2026 Fascia Guide outlines the criteria and benefits for retailers joining its symbol groups, which include Premier, Londis, Budgens, and Family Shopper. The guide covers membership requirements, financial packages, ordering options, and support services.
Membership criteria and costs
Criteria vary slightly by fascia and store type, with retailers assessed on store size, sales potential, demographics, and location. Retailers typically require a minimum weekly spend of £5,000 to £20,000 per period, and participation in the fascia's promotional programme.
Booker offers a 100% cost-free model for retailers joining its symbol groups, with no joining, membership, or marketing fees. Retailers benefit from free fascia installation, fascia imagery, and marketing support. Credit terms are agreed during sign-up, and through Booker's Added Value Service partners, retailers access finance and leasing providers for store investment. The Spend & Save scheme offers discounts of up to 5% across Premier, Londis, and Family Shopper, and up to 6% for Budgens retailers.
Contract, ordering, and product range
Retailers typically operate on a three-year contract, though Booker also offers Shop Locally, a more flexible, non-symbol option. There is no fixed trading area radius, with store exclusivity assessed case-by-case. Minimum drop requirements vary depending on whether the retailer is a delivered customer or uses cash and carry.
Ordering options include cash and carry at Booker branches, delivered wholesale, online ordering via mobile app, till-based EPoS systems, web ordering, and handheld order-gun technology. Multi-temperature deliveries and top-ups through local branches are available. Booker offers more than 800 own-label lines across Euro Shopper and Jack's, alongside own-label wines and spirits.
Fresh, chilled, and technology support
Booker provides more than 2,000 fresh and chilled product lines across branded and own-label ranges, with deliveries up to six days a week depending on store turnover. Specialist ranges are available through centrally billed supplier partnerships. All symbol retailers must operate an EPoS system, with Booker offering a free EPoS solution to qualifying retailers.
Promotional support includes Mega Deals, Everyday Low Pricing, Fresh 4 promotions, meal deals, long-term value campaigns, and seasonal events. Retailers also access exclusive group promotions, own-brand offers, extended-credit pre-sell opportunities, and digital vouchers. Category management support includes category insight, planograms, merchandising advice, demographic analysis, and range recommendations.
Recent innovations and retailer benefits
Booker's rapid grocery home delivery platform, Scoot, is live in more than 450 stores, enabling delivery in as little as 30 minutes. The platform provides onboarding support, marketing materials, analytics, POS kits, geo-targeted advertising, and courier partnerships including Just Eat. Retailers also benefit from the Fit for the Future programme and added-value service partners.
Budgens remains a "shopkeeper's brand," empowering independent retailers to shape stores around communities. Londis provides flexible store formats and operational support tailored to high-traffic fuel sites, with a forecourt focus on food-to-go and impulse retail. Premier, the UK's largest symbol group, offers buying power, branding, marketing, and operational support with a community and value-led focus.
The factfile notes average store sizes of 1,500sq ft to 3,000sq ft, with average weekly sales of £16,000 for Premier, £18,000 for Londis, and £28,000 for Budgens. More than 8,500 UK retail members are part of the groups. A retailer snapshot features Roli Ranger of Budgens Ascot in Berkshire, a Londis retailer for 33 years before moving to Budgens in March 2026, with sales 45% higher year-on-year three months after reopening. Ranger chose Budgens to pilot its new concept, matching his ambition for a modern, market-style store with a strong fresh-food and food-hall focus.
