B&M closes County Road Liverpool store

B&M has permanently closed its store on County Road, one of north Liverpool's shopping streets. The shop's final day of trading was Friday, November 6, and it has now been listed as permanently closed on Google.

Brand presence across Merseyside

The discount chain operates throughout Merseyside, including sites at Clayton Square, Edge Lane, Longmoore Lane and Speke Retail Park. The County Road location has now shut its doors.

The business was founded in 1978, with the first store opening in Blackpool, and grew into one of the UK's leading discount chains. As of 2022, B&M had 700 stores in the UK and employed more than 35,000 staff members.

Staff offered roles at nearby stores

The bargain retailer is known for selling discounted homeware, groceries, and everyday household essentials. Staff from the County Road store were offered employment at other local stores in surrounding areas.

In a statement shared with the ECHO, a B&M spokesperson said: "We remain committed to bringing the best possible B&M stores and shopping experience to our customers across Liverpool.

"Customers will continue to find the same great B&M value at our nearby stores, including Great Homer Street and Utting Avenue, both just one mile away, which are home to a Garden Centre and offer an even bigger range of products under one roof.

"All colleagues affected by the closure on November 6 2026 will be offered employment at other local B&M stores in the surrounding area.

"We'd like to thank our customers for their continued support and look forward to welcoming them into our other Liverpool stores."

The firm is currently based in Liverpool and has its headquarters in Speke.
