Bissell CrossWave Wet & Dry Vacuum: 'Life Changer' for Busy Families
Bissell CrossWave: Life Changer for Busy Families

Shark and Dyson may dominate the vacuum cleaner world, but savvy shoppers are discovering alternatives that tackle everyday messes just as effectively. One getting praise from busy households is the Bissell CrossWave Wet & Dry Corded Hard Floor Vacuum Cleaner.

Now on sale for £149.92, down from £249.96, from QVC, this appliance is designed to streamline household chores by combining several cleaning jobs into one. Instead of vacuuming first and then reaching for the mop, it tackles both tasks simultaneously, helping to cut down on cleaning time. It also dries floors, according to the listing. Suitable for a wide range of surfaces, the CrossWave can be used on hard floors, including tiles, laminate, vinyl and wood, as well as low-pile rugs.

Key Features

Its rotating multi-surface brush roll lifts both wet and dry messes in a single pass, making it particularly useful in homes with children, pets or high foot traffic. One standout feature is dual tank technology, which keeps clean and dirty water completely separate throughout the cleaning process. This means floors are continuously washed with fresh cleaning solution rather than recycled dirty water. Designed with convenience in mind, the vacuum features digital touch controls that allow users to easily switch between cleaning modes.

Ease of Use

The lightweight 5.2kg frame and swivel steering make it easy to manoeuvre around furniture and tight corners. Maintenance is straightforward, with removable water tanks, a washable filter and a detachable brush roll that can be cleaned after use.

Alternatives

Over at Argos, there is the Karcher Plus Wet & Dry Corded Vacuum Cleaner priced at £68. It has a 12-litre container, is suitable for a variety of floors, and has an adjustable floorhead that can easily switch between carpet and hard floor. A cheaper option is the Black + Decker Wet & Dry Dustbuster Handheld Vacuum Cleaner for £34, reduced from £44.99. This is ideal for those who want to save money and need a smaller, more compact gadget that still gets the work done.

Customer Reviews

Shoppers have rated the Bissell vacuum cleaner highly on QVC. One five-star review said: 'Five out of five stars. Life-changing for a busy family with hard floors. Fantastic vacuum and mop. Dries the floor after mopping, which is great when you've got little people running around the house. It's particularly useful when said little people spill a drink and we can just vacuum it straight up. Has cleaned my low-pile rug and indoor door mats wonderfully, so easy to use. Yes, you have to take it apart to clean after each use, but it's not much more than emptying a normal vacuum and cleaning out a mop bucket.'

Another added: 'Great little vacuum/cleaner. At first, I was undecided about it. But now that I have used it a few times, I am impressed.' A third said: 'It really does cut cleaning time in half. Though not bone dry, floors are much drier than with traditional mopping and dry much quicker.'

This person also noted some negatives: 'The cable is average length, but my Shark vac has a longer cable. The presenter made it sound much longer than it is. Yes, you do have to clean after use, which I will do every time to keep it in good condition. All the muck and bits all mix together in a sludgy mess, so it's not pleasant, but when you think about what this machine is doing, what else can you expect? Rugs are quite wet after cleaning, so you need to allow time for them to dry out. All in all, happy with it, it does the job and has made life easier.'
