Coyo Taco, the Miami-born taco restaurant loved by David Beckham, is giving away 200 free tacos in London this Sunday to celebrate National Taco Day. The chain, which opened its first UK location earlier this year, will hand out 200 of its bestselling Beef Birria tacos for free on Sunday, October 4.
Celebrity favourite with Miami roots
David Beckham, Will Smith and Barack Obama are said to have dined at the spot born in Miami's Latin arts neighbourhood, with roots in Coyoacán, Mexico City. Coyo Taco was founded in 2016 and has become one of Miami's most iconic taco spots. The chain now has seven locations across Miami and six internationally.
The London location opened its doors in June. On Sunday, the first 100 people through the doors of its St James' Park restaurant will each receive two Beef Birria tacos completely free.
Freebies and limited-edition bibs
For the first 20 people in the queue, there is an extra treat. As well as their two free tacos, they will receive a limited-edition Coyo Taco Birria Bib and an additional pot of consommé, perfect for dunking their tacos. Created specifically for the messy taco, the bib is designed to protect diners from rogue drips, splashes and cheese pulls, with the slogan “Drip Responsibly” written on it.
Since it landed in London, Coyo Taco says its Beef Birria has quickly become the bestselling taco on the menu, and now the restaurant is celebrating National Taco Day by giving Londoners the chance to try the cult favourite for absolutely nothing. Made using freshly rolled and hand-pressed corn tortillas, the tacos are packed with rich, slow-cooked beef and melted cheese before being served alongside a pot of savoury consommé.
Giveaway details
The first 20 people through the doors will receive the bib, their two free Beef Birria tacos and an extra pot of consommé. Once those 20 bibs have gone, the giveaway will continue, with the next 80 people receiving two free Beef Birria tacos each. The 80 people in the queue will each receive one free portion of Beef Birria tacos, which contains two tacos and is served with a pot of consommé as standard, and one extra pot of consommé. That means 100 taco fans will be able to get their hands on 200 free tacos in total.
The giveaway starts at 11am on Sunday and runs while stocks last. The restaurant is located at 2 Orchard Place, close to St James's Park tube station.
