Aveeno Baby & Kids has launched a limited-edition Gruffalo packaging makeover across four of its bestselling products, and a mum with a four-year-old who has sensitive skin tested the range. The collection, built around the concept of "Gentle care for story-filled family evenings," combines the brand's oat-based skincare with the children's book character.
Products in the Gruffalo Range
The Gruffalo packaging appears on the Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Bath & Wash (250ml, £6.49), which contains calming oat extract and lavender. It also appears on the Aveeno Kids Bubble Bath & Wash (250ml, £6.49), the Aveeno Kids Shampoo (250ml, £6.49) and the Aveeno Kids Face & Body Moisturising Lotion (150ml, £6.49).
The Baby Calming Comfort Bath & Wash is suitable for babies aged 7 months and older, while the remaining products are developed for children between 1 and 12 years of age.
Testing on Sensitive Skin
The tester, whose son has extremely sensitive skin, reported no issues with any of the products. She noted that the Kids Bubble Bath & Wash created a large amount of bubbles with only a small amount of formula. The fragrance of the Baby Calming Comfort Bath & Wash was described as gentle, powdery and herbal-sweet, with a soft lavender scent complemented by vanilla.
The shampoo, enriched with calming oat extract and shea butter, produced a rich lather with a modest amount. The tester reported no complaints about stinging eyes or an irritated scalp.
Moisturising Lotion Performance
The Kids Face & Body Moisturising Lotion, developed for children aged 3 years and above, absorbed quickly and left no greasy residue. The tester noted it did not sting the face and found it useful for seasonal dryness and soothing dry patches. However, she suggested that parents of children with particularly severe eczema might find it too light and could prefer Aveeno's heavier Dermexa or Baby Daily Care barrier creams.
The products contain no soap, sulphates or artificial dyes. They are also pH-balanced and tear-free.
