Asda Cuts Pedestal Fan to £19 Amid UK Heatwave

Asda has slashed the price of its 16 Inch Pedestal Fan from £25 to £19 as Britain endures soaring temperatures, prompting shoppers to seek affordable cooling solutions. The retailer, which operates over 1,000 locations across the UK, including superstores, Asda Express convenience shops, and petrol stations, has seen stock levels dwindle for the popular item.

Product Features and Availability

The fan features a 16-inch blade behind a white-painted mesh safety guard and offers three speed settings, allowing users to adjust airflow. Standing at 1.2 metres tall with a 640mm cross base for stability, it comes with a 1.5-metre power cord fitted with a UK plug and meets CE, ERP, and RoHS safety and efficiency standards. Customers can purchase the fan in-store or order it via home delivery, with options including standard home delivery, one-hour express delivery, and Click & Collect.

Standard delivery slots typically cost between £1 and £7, depending on the day and time, while express delivery starts from £8.50. A £40 minimum spend applies to standard home deliveries, with a £4 charge added to smaller orders. Click & Collect is free on baskets worth £25 or more, and frequent shoppers can cut costs with an Asda Delivery Pass starting from around £3.95 a month.

Shopper Reviews

Positive reviews have highlighted the fan's performance. One shopper said: "This fan is easy to handle and lightweight, yet built with proper quality. It's simple to assemble, and the 3 speed settings provide excellent airflow — settings 2 and 3 are perfect when you need a stronger breeze. The rotating head is smooth and easy to adjust. Highly recommended for the price. Compared to other fans, this one offers better quality at a lower cost."

Another added: "I bought this last week. It’s helped massively to cool down our living room in the heat we’ve had. Would definitely recommend." A third commented: "Nice fan does the job well and good value for money."

However, not all feedback was glowing. One buyer admitted: "In general the fan is ok, it's a fan! However when I turn it on it sounds like a helicopter starting up, and when it's working in the oscillating mode it creaks and squeaks as though the motor is really old and in need of maintenance. I would have liked a longer power lead and also to adjust it to stand a bit taller. This was a convenient purchase as I needed a fan but I think better can be found for less if you take the time to look around. I won't recommend this fan."
