Arsenal could be set to sell Illan Meslier just weeks after signing him, with French side Marseille reportedly interested in the goalkeeper. According to Foot Mercato, Marseille are keen to bring Meslier to the club, where he would be offered more playing time.
Meslier's short Arsenal stint
Meslier joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Leeds United this summer after his contract with the Yorkshire club expired. He was signed as the club's third-choice goalkeeper, with David Raya as the clear No. 1 and Kepa Arrizabalaga as the No. 2.
Foot Mercato reports that Marseille would need to let players go before making any concrete moves, but the interest is there. A departure would be a swift turnaround for Meslier, who appeared set to spend the season with Arsenal.
Arsenal's summer business
Meslier was one of only a few additions to Arsenal's first-team squad this summer. Christos Tzolis, Ezri Konsa and Bruno Guimaraes were the other major signings, with both expected to see plenty of minutes throughout the season.
The club also had a failed pursuit of Vinicius Junior, who opted to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid instead. There remains a feeling that Arsenal need to strengthen their attack to end their long wait for a Champions League trophy.

The latest name linked with a move to Arsenal is Julian Alvarez, who has been central to transfer discussions all summer. Reports suggest Barcelona will not sign Alvarez from Atletico Madrid before deadline day, potentially opening the door for Arsenal to make a move.
Arsenal began their season with an opening day victory against Coventry. They face Aston Villa this weekend, followed by Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium and Brighton before the international break.
