Argos has reduced the Fuchsia Mirage Lava Lamp 14.5in - Pink & Violet in its sale, dropping the price from £20 to £16 with code LIGHT20 at checkout. The retro-style lamp is suitable for ages eight and over and is positioned as a Christmas gift option for fans of nostalgic homeware.
The lamp provides ambient lighting and visual interest on a bedside table, desk, or bookshelf. It comes with a G9 capsule bulb included and is ready to use straight away. Argos recommends leaving it on for four to six hours the first time it is used to help the wax separate.
Shopper Reviews and Ratings
The lamp has earned an 81% recommendation rate on the Argos website so far. One shopper said: "Beautiful vibrant colours. Fabulous lamp. It will have pride of place at my 1970s afternoon tea." Another shopper said: "Excellent replacement of a basic night light for my daughter."
While this pleased buyer added: "Superb, I love it, it was bought as a gift for a friend, I think it's good I've asked for one for my birthday." However, some buyers note the lava lamp can stop working quite quickly. One review reads: "Disappointed. Lovely lamp, was given for Christmas, but has had to be replaced three times already."
Alternative Options and Other Retailers
For those looking to shop around, The Glow Company stocks the Blob Lamps Lava Lamp Vintage - Gloss White Base - Black/Clear for £24.95, while Tesco has the Nova Lava Lamp Purple Liquid/Yellow Wax, Black for £29.99.
Vintage homeware fans might also want to head over to Dunelm. The retailer has just released two new colours of the popular Floyd Retro Floor Lamp. Priced at £99, the mid-century style lamp features an antique-look metal base with a ribbed glass shade. With the red variation already proving a hit with shoppers, the retailer has just added burgundy and green options to the line up.
For those looking for a cheaper option, Dunelm also stocks the Floyd Retro Table Lamp for £45. Available in the same colours, it would make for a coffee table or bedside table addition. Dusk also has a Retro Table Lamp at £45, featuring a domed mushroom shape and nostalgic orange hue which shoppers have described as "striking". It is a playful nod to the 70s but would work with more modern wood and ceramic pieces at home.
