Argos shoppers are rushing to save £40 on the Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of a confirmed price increase. Nintendo has announced that the cost of the standalone Switch 2 console will rise from the recommended retail price of £395.99 to £419.99 starting September 1, an increase of around £24.
Argos Discount Ahead of Price Hike
Argos is currently selling the Nintendo Switch 2 for £380, which is £40 less than the new price of £419.99. The console is listed as 'Most Popular', 'Selling Fast' and 'Trending' on the Argos website, where it has been viewed more than 1,000 times in the past 24 hours and added to dozens of baskets.
Orders from Argos can be picked up on the same day, and in some cases, same-day home delivery is available. Argos also offers multiple payment schemes, including buy now and pay later options like Klarna.
Bundle and Console Features
Argos is also selling a bundle containing the console and a copy of Pokemon Pokopia for £429.99. The Nintendo Switch 2 makes several improvements over the original console, including a bigger screen and superior JoyCons. The Switch 2 display measures 7.9 inches and comes with HDR support and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The JoyCons are larger than their predecessors and can be used like a PC mouse, making them ideal for first-person shooters, strategy and classic adventure games.
The console is also backwards compatible with the original Switch, allowing users to sell their old console to fund the new purchase.
Nintendo Explains Price Revision
Explaining the decision to raise the price, Nintendo blamed 'changes in market conditions' and 'global business outlook'. The company said: “We sincerely apologise for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding.”
PS5 and Xbox Series price increases were far more extreme, with the latter rising from £499 to £669. The PS5 Pro increased from £699.99 to £789.99.
