Argos shoppers rave about £19 gadget that 'quickly warms up the room'

As energy bills continue to rise, many Brits are struggling to keep warm without breaking the bank. January is nearly over, but the miserable weather isn't budging. Following the brutal storms Isa and Jocelyn, temperatures are expected to plummet to -6C, with snow warnings issued for most of the UK.

Over 450,000 households are predicted to face 'fuel poverty' due to the January price cap, where households spend more than 10 per cent of their income on heating bills. However, shoppers are currently raving about a gadget they swear can quickly warm up a large room – and it's on sale.

Brits are flocking to Argos to get their hands on the Challenge 2kW Convector Heater, reduced from £30 to £19. The thermostatically controlled appliance has three heat settings, a safety cut out switch, and a heat output of 2kW. It has thousands of five-star reviews, with 95 per cent of shoppers recommending the product.

One shopper said: 'We love this heater. This is our second one as it fits just right in a small area and works a treat, making the room much warmer and cosy.' Another commented: 'So happy with this product. My home is so cosy and warm.' A third added: 'Bought to help heat a large room, now very toasty.'

Uswitch says that under the January price cap, a 2kW heater would cost around £1.14 for two hours' use, working out at £8.01 a week or £416 a year. However, portable heaters should not be used as a complete replacement for central heating. To further cut energy bills, experts recommend turning down your thermostat by one degree, which could slash your bill by up to 10 per cent.
