Aldi's Lacura Sweet Angel shower gel, a budget-friendly alternative to Lush's Snow Fairy, is returning to stores nationwide from September 14. Priced at £1.99 for a 500ml bottle, it undercuts Lush's equivalent product by £22.
A cheaper festive favourite
Lush's Snow Fairy range, known for its sweet fragrance of vanilla, bubblegum and candyfloss, typically includes bath bombs, body spray, bubble bath, shower gel, lip butters and body lotions. In recent years, Lush's 1kg bottle of Snow Fairy Shower Gel has topped £40.
Aldi's version, enriched with natural strawberry extract and moisturising ingredients, offers a more affordable option. A similar sized bottle of Lush's Snow Fairy shower gel cost £24 last year.
Shopper reactions
The product has generated excitement among shoppers. One Facebook user commented: "For anyone that's ever bought Snow fairy from Lush. This smells exactly like it and only £1.99 at Aldi."
Another said: "I love this one. Definitely the closest one to Lush." A third added: "I love this and so do my girls so at £1.99 a bottle I'll take it."
However, one dissenting voice claimed: "I work at Lush, surrounded by Snow Fairy 4 months of the year and well stocked at home the rest of the year and I've yet to come across a dupe that actually smells like Snow Fairy."
Cruelty-free certification
Aldi states: "We are proud to say that all our own label cosmetics, toiletries and household products are cruelty free certified by leading animal protection organisation, Cruelty Free International."
Aldi, founded in Germany in 1961, is known for its affordable essentials and lifestyle products.
