Aldi has introduced a new range of male fragrances ahead of Father's Day, priced at just £5.99 for 50ml. Available in stores from June 11, the three colognes are part of the supermarket's Specialbuy line and are said to rival luxury brands such as Dior, Hugo Boss, and Ralph Lauren.
The Lacura Solar Drift, described as a fresh and lightly floral blend, features top notes of mandarin, bergamot, violet, and lavender, with a base of leather, vetiver, amber, musk, and patchouli. It is considered a dupe for Dior's Fahrenheit Eau de Parfum, which costs £79 for the same size.
Lacura Classic Edge, with notes of crisp apple, plum, bergamot, vanilla, sandalwood, and cedar, is said to rival Hugo Boss's Boss Bottled, priced at £52.80. Aldi's version offers a similar scent profile at 89% less.
The third fragrance, Lacura Urban Dusk, offers notes of tonka bean, wormwood, mango, tangerine, and lemon, and is compared to Polo Ralph Lauren, which costs £87 for 50ml. Aldi's version saves shoppers over £79.
Aldi's research indicates that 67% of Brits believe affordable perfumes can smell better than luxury originals, and 57% have received more compliments wearing cheaper alternatives. The supermarket has also released a tongue-in-cheek advert to promote the launch.
