Aldi Extends Baby Formula Price Freeze Across All UK Stores

Aldi has announced it is extending its price freeze on baby formula across all 1,080 UK stores. The German supermarket giant confirmed on Tuesday, June 23, that its Mamia First Infant Milk will remain at £6.99 until the end of 2026, building on a previous commitment that kept the price stable until summer 2026. The £6.99 price point has been in place since June 2025.

According to Aldi, the move helps parents save up to £5 compared with the average price of similar products at other supermarkets. The chain was named Supermarket of the Year at the 2026 Mother & Baby Awards.

Rising Prices in the Baby Formula Market

Aldi cited analysis by trade publication The Grocer, which found that the pre-promotional price of 157 baby formula products sold in major supermarkets rose by an average of 9.4% in January and February 2026. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has estimated that families could save over £300 a year by switching to less expensive formula products.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Household budgets remain under pressure, and some infant formula brands are increasing prices. That’s why we’re extending our Mamia First Infant Milk price freeze until the end of 2026. We know that every penny counts for parents, particularly during those early years, which is why we're committed to keeping this essential product accessible and affordable.”

Regulatory Context and Additional Support

UK regulations require all infant formula products, regardless of brand or price, to meet babies' nutritional needs, meaning cheaper options are nutritionally equivalent to more expensive brands. Aldi’s announcement is the latest in a series of measures to support parents. In January, the supermarket relaunched its Mamia New Parent Fund, which provides £100 Aldi vouchers every week for a year to help with the cost of everyday essentials after having a new baby. Parents can apply by emailing mamiaparentfund@aldi.co.uk and including a receipt showing their latest Mamia nappy purchase. Full terms and conditions are available on Aldi’s website.
