Aldi has confirmed that its stores across the UK will close earlier than usual on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25. Most branches will open at 8am but shut at 8pm, two hours earlier than the standard 10pm closing time. However, in Scotland, many stores are expected to maintain their regular hours of 8am to 10pm.

The Spring bank holiday, originally known as Whit Monday, is a secular day off for many, but supermarket staff will be working. Other major supermarkets have also announced adjusted trading hours for the day.

Lidl will vary its hours across the country, with stores in Scotland and within the M25 boundary operating as normal. Elsewhere, most Lidl stores will open from 8am to 8pm, though customers are advised to check local branches via the online store finder or Lidl Plus app.

Tesco larger stores will be open from 8am to 6pm, with some open until 8pm. In Scotland, larger Tesco stores will operate from 7am to 10pm, and in Northern Ireland from 8am to 6pm. Smaller Tesco convenience stores will keep regular hours, typically opening between 6am and 7am and closing between 10pm and midnight.

Sainsbury's most stores will open from 8am to 8pm, while Sainsbury's Local stores will be open from 7am to 10pm or 11pm. Scottish Sainsbury's will maintain regular hours from around 7am to 10pm. Morrisons will open between 7am and 8am, with most closing at 8pm, though some may remain open until 10pm.

Asda larger stores will operate from 8am to 10pm, with Scottish stores on regular hours. Waitrose will have slightly reduced hours, with most stores open from 8am to 6pm. The Co-op and Iceland expect to open as usual, but customers are urged to check local store times online before travelling.
