Aldi is launching a new anti-redness serum priced at £4.99, offering a budget-friendly alternative to a similar product sold at Boots for £33.60. The Lacura Colour Correcting Drops will be available in stores from Sunday, August 30, as part of the supermarket's new 'Health and Beauty' collection.
Budget alternative to premium serum
The drops are designed to compete with Dr Jart+ Cicapair Intensive Soothing Repair Serum, which currently costs £33.60 at Boots for a 30ml bottle, down from its usual price of £42. Aldi's version aims to provide similar benefits at a fraction of the cost.
According to Aldi's website, the £4.99 drops are formulated to "reduce the look of redness" and "even your complexion," containing tiger grass extract, arnica extract, and niacinamide, along with SPF 30 protection. The product description adds: "Perfectly adapts to your natural skin colour to help cover blemishes, reduce the look of redness and even your complexion. Tiger grass extract. Arnica extract. Panthenol and vitamin B3."
Key ingredients and benefits
Tiger grass extract, a key ingredient in both products, is said to contain active compounds such as madecassoside and asiaticoside that help reduce inflammation and calm sensitive or reactive skin. It is also believed to help lock in moisture, block daily irritants, and speed up skin recovery from minor wounds, blemishes, and post-procedure irritation.
Boots describes its Dr Jart+ serum as "a lightweight, yet potent serum enriched with Centella Asiatica extract and Peptides to effectively soothe, while rapidly boosting the all-important skin barrier, keeping the look of sensitivity at bay. Suitable for sensitive skin. Dermatologist tested."
Cream version also available
In addition to the drops, Aldi is selling a cream version of the Lacura Colour Correcting Treatment in a pot, also priced at £4.99. Boots offers a comparable 30ml pot of Dr Jart's Cicapair Soothing Colour Correcting Treatment for £23.20.
Aldi describes its cream as: "Perfectly adapt to your natural skin colour to help cover blemishes, reduce the look of redness and even out complexion. With SPF 30, this formulation also helps moisturise your skin for a daily glow. Helps neutralise redness and hydrate the skin. Tiger grass extract. Arnica extract. Niacinamide. SPF 30."
Boots' description of its £23 cream reads: "This iconic Korean colour corrector (one sold every 21 seconds!) now comes in an upgraded formula. Powered by Centella Asiatica, it instantly neutralises redness and conceals blemishes with an easy-to-blend texture. This upgraded hybrid also protects with mineral sunscreen SPF 30, strengthens the skin barrier, soothes, and moisturises — all in one jar. Suitable for sensitive and rosacea-prone skin. Dermatologist tested."
Shoppers can choose between Aldi's £4.99 version and Boots' £34 Dr Jart option, with the Aldi product offering a more affordable choice for those on a budget.
