Aldi is introducing the Ambiano Vertical Air Fryer as part of its new Special Buys collection arriving in stores on Thursday, October 1. The £49.99 appliance provides a budget-friendly alternative to Ninja's Double Stack Two-Drawer 7.6L SL300UK Air Fryer, which currently retails at £199.99.
According to Aldi's product details: "Big on performance, slim on footprint. Enjoy healthier frying, roasting, and baking in a space-saving vertical design built for modern kitchens."
Design and Capacity Compared
Both devices arrange cooking compartments vertically rather than horizontally to minimise worktop space. The Aldi version offers an 11-litre total capacity divided between two 5.5-litre compartments, while the Ninja SL300UK provides 7.6 litres overall (3.8 litres per compartment).
The additional capacity affects dimensions. The Ambiano reaches around 43cm in height, making it almost 5cm taller than the Ninja alternative, which stands at 38.5cm. This size variation could prove problematic when fitting beneath typical kitchen cupboards.
Features and Pricing
Heat distribution differs between the devices. The Ninja Double Stack features a rear-mounted fan and comes with two wire racks. The Aldi Ambiano variant runs at a peak power output of 2,460 watts (similar to Ninja's 2,470 watts) and employs a conventional 360-degree hot-air circulation mechanism. It boasts a built-in digital touchscreen with nine pre-programmed cooking settings, though multi-level racks aren't provided.
The most striking contrast lies in pricing. Aldi's Ambiano Vertical Air Fryer retails at £49.99, while the Ninja SL300UK currently carries a sale price of £199.99.
Warranty and Availability
Guarantee conditions vary too. Ninja offers a standard two-year warranty upon registration, while Aldi provides a three-year warranty for its Specialbuy products.
One significant drawback for shoppers is availability. Ninja products can be picked up year-round from major electrical and department stores, whereas the Ambiano fryer is part of Aldi's Special Buys range. Sold solely in physical stores during select promotional periods, stock is restricted to whatever remains in the famous middle aisle.
