Aldi is releasing a new Workwear Fleece Jacket for £9.99 as part of its upcoming Winter Workwear collection, which arrives on Sunday, October 11. The budget supermarket's Special Buy offers a lower-cost alternative to similar fleeces on the market, including B&Q's Regatta Professional Sigma Heavyweight Unisex Fleece, priced at £27.81.
The Aldi jacket is made from Oeko-Tex 100% recycled polyester and features a side zip pocket. It is available in black or grey, with men's and women's options in various sizes. Aldi describes it as "a practical layering piece that combines lasting warmth, all-day comfort and a smart professional appearance."
Comparing the Two Fleeces
Both jackets target the same audience with a practical, minimalist black utility layer designed for manual labour. However, there are notable differences. Aldi's version offers a standard medium-to-heavyweight polyester build with a stand-up collar and secure zippered side pockets, intended to keep tools and mobile phones safe on site.
The B&Q Regatta fleece, in contrast, has an extreme fabric weight of 380 GSM (grams per square metre), making it significantly thicker and warmer than Aldi's. It also uses an anti-pill "symmetry" fabric designed to resist bobbling over time, plus an adjustable shockcord hem to lock out cold drafts. The choice between design and price is left to shoppers, with Aldi presenting the more affordable option.
Additional Workwear Items
Aldi is also releasing packs of Workwear Socks for £3.99, which the supermarket says will "keep your feet happy" from "clock-in to clock-out." The Lycra socks come in packs of three, feature "anti-bacterial treatment," are 30°C machine washable, and are available in yellow, grey, or blue in sizes 6/8-9/11.
