A budget pack of shortbread from Aldi has come out top in a taste test against Walker's and four other supermarket own-brand versions.
The 95p Aldi shortbread fingers scored 10/10, beating Walker's at £1.95, which scored 9/10. Sainsbury's came last with a rating of 3/10.
How the biscuits were tested
Shortbread fingers from Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury's were compared with Walker's, judging them on taste.
Prices ranged from 95p for Aldi and Lidl up to £1.95 for Walker's from Sainsbury's.
Results from bottom to top
Sainsbury's (£1.25) came last. The biscuits were dry, left an odd lingering aftertaste and had very little sugar on top.
Lidl (95p) scored 5/10. The biscuits were pleasant and buttery but had no sugar on top and did not stand out.
Asda (£1.25) scored 7/10. They were nicely crumbly, broke apart easily and had a good level of sweetness, but needed more buttery flavour and sometimes tasted a little dry.
Top three
Marks and Spencer (£1.20) scored 8/10. These were the darkest biscuits in the test, had a firm bite and a generous sugar coating, though they were a little too firm.
Walker's (£1.95) scored 9/10. The biscuits felt firm but crumbled as soon as bitten, with a lovely buttery flavour without being too sweet.
Aldi (95p) won with a great balance of butter and sugar. The biscuits were lovely and crumbly, with a light dusting of sugar on top, and were not too sweet. At 95p, they were joint-cheapest with Lidl and offered excellent value.
