Shopper praises 62p Tesco staple over M&S and Sainsbury's
62p Tesco staple wins over M&S and Sainsbury's shopper

A shopper who regularly buys from M&S and Sainsbury's has revealed that a 62p Tesco cupboard staple keeps drawing her back. Sophie Harris, a Senior Audience Writer, explained that while she still values M&S for its quality, small changes can help manage household budgets as food prices remain under pressure.

Comparing prices across supermarkets

Harris noted that comparing prices across different supermarkets and brands can reveal significant differences, even for everyday essentials. Instead of buying everything under one roof, she now picks up certain products from different shops. For her, Tesco's original washing-up liquid, priced at 62p for 500ml, is one such item.

Despite loving M&S's fruit and Sainsbury's own-branded products, Harris specifically heads to Tesco for the washing-up liquid. She described it as a household essential that gets used constantly.

A cheaper alternative that beats the rest

Harris said that over the years she has tried many washing-up liquids, and even Fairy doesn't beat the test compared to Tesco's version. She praised its smell, lathering ability, and longevity, noting that a bottle lasts a long time. In contrast, she found M&S's washing-up liquid hard to get out of the bottle, leading to using more than needed.

The easy-squeezing bottle that foams up nicely makes the chore much easier and more enjoyable, Harris added. The 62p staple has received raving reviews on the Tesco website, with customers praising it as a cheaper option to main suppliers and comparing it favourably to Fairy Liquid.

Other own-brand favourites

Harris has also come to appreciate other supermarket own-brand items. She highlighted Tesco's Pure Fabric Conditioner, priced at £1.61 for a 1.25L bottle, which she says is amazing for sensitive skin. She plans to pick this up every time she visits the supermarket for washing-up liquid.
