UK Pizza Dough Firm Collapses Into Administration Owning £1.5m

A British pizza dough supplier has collapsed into administration after more than 34 years of trading, leaving creditors owed £1.5 million. Millennium Dough Company, based in West London, specialised in producing wholesale artisan frozen pizza dough from its headquarters on Taunton Rd, Greenford.

Company Background

The company focused on using premium ingredients and traditional baking methods, including long fermentation and craft flours, according to Best Food Importers. It catered to the unique needs of restaurants and food service companies. Previously known as Millennium Food Service, the firm had received glowing five-star Google reviews, with one customer praising its "excellent fantastic staff."

Administration Details

According to documents filed in The Gazette, the company appointed administrators on June 8. Quantuma Advisory will now represent the business. Firms typically enter administration to address financial difficulties or insolvency, where a company cannot pay its debts or its liabilities exceed its assets. The insolvency expert takes control to either save the company, reorganise its debts, or sell assets to maximise returns for creditors.

Financial Situation

Millennium Dough's most recent accounts show that while it generated £1.7 million in profits in the year to October 2024, the amount owed to creditors nearly doubled within 12 months. By October 2024, creditors were owed £1.5 million within a year, compared to £751,052 for the same period in 2023.

Several hospitality and catering businesses have recently faced administration or financial difficulties. Food and catering firms are particularly vulnerable due to unstable ingredient costs, which can be affected by fluctuating fuel prices, rising utility bills, and commercial rents.
