TUI Airways has updated its rules for holidaymakers, with changes taking effect for bookings made from June 5, 2026. The updates affect ticket alterations, health requirements, and mask-wearing policies. If you booked before this date, previous rules from March 2023 still apply.
Updated Flight Conditions of Carriage
The TUI Conditions of Carriage is the legal contract between you and TUI Airways when purchasing a flight. It applies to all passengers, including those with Flight Only tickets and those on TUI package holidays. The document streamlines legal language, tightens health policy provisions, and explicitly outlines amendment fees.
Health Requirements and Mask Policies
TUI has modernized its terms to address future public health scenarios:
- Conditional Mask Requirements: If local government or health authorities mandate masks, passengers must wear appropriate face coverings at the airport and on board. Non-compliance may result in refusal of carriage, and removing masks mid-flight will be treated under the disruptive passenger policy.
- Health Statements: TUI may require passengers to complete health statements before flying to or from UK airports. Passengers showing symptoms of a major health outbreak, epidemic, or pandemic will be denied boarding.
Name Corrections vs Substitutions
Genuine spelling mistakes or typos can be corrected for free, provided TUI can verify the error. However, transferring a ticket to a different person incurs standard amendment or transfer fees.
Ticket Validity and Amendment Fees
Tickets are valid for one year from the date of issue. In the event of a passenger's death en route or a death in the immediate family after travel has started, TUI allows ticket changes for the passenger and accompanying family members to fly at a different time. For voluntary amendments made 29 days or more before departure, a baseline charge of £50 or €50 per passenger per booking applies, plus any fare difference, taxes, or fees.
Price Match Promise
Although part of package holiday terms, TUI has launched a Price Match Promise. If you book a package holiday and find the exact same TUI-flight-inclusive deal cheaper elsewhere, you can claim a refund for the difference. Claims must be submitted within 72 hours of the original booking.
