Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose Issue Urgent Food Recalls Over Safety Fears
Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose Issue Urgent Food Recalls

Three leading British supermarkets—Tesco, Morrisons, and Waitrose—have issued urgent food recalls for several products over the past weeks, citing safety concerns ranging from glass and metal contamination to undeclared allergens. The affected items include a pasta sauce, cashews, a caramelised onion chutney, and a frozen dessert. Full details are available on the retailers' websites and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) portal.

Morrisons Recalls

Morrisons has two active recalls on its website.

Morrisons Savers Salted Cashews, 125g

As a precaution, the supermarket is withdrawing this product because certain packs may contain glass. The affected best-before dates are: August 9, 2026; September 6, 2026; September 26, 2026; September 28, 2026; and October 9, 2026. Customers are advised not to eat the product and to return it to any Morrisons store for a full refund, with no receipt required. A Morrisons spokesperson said: "We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."

Filippo Berio Hot Chilli Pesto, 190g

Filippo Berio is recalling its Hot Chilli Pesto 190g due to an undeclared fish ingredient on the rear label. If you have purchased this product with the best-before date of May 15, 2028, please do not use it and return it for a full refund. No receipt is needed.

Tesco Recalls

Tesco has several active food recalls listed on its website.

Arran Chutney Caramelised Red Onion, 195g

Fox's Burtons Companies (FBC) is recalling particular date codes of this chutney owing to concerns that some products may contain metal fragments. The affected product batches are: November 25, 2028; January 7, 2029; January 14, 2029; January 15, 2029; January 26, 2029; January 27, 2029; February 2, 2029; and February 3, 2029. Customers who have purchased an affected product are urged not to consume it and to return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.

Gü Frozen Double Sea Salted Caramel Dessert 2x85g

Gü is recalling a specific best-before date and lot code of this dessert because the packaging may contain the incorrect product, which could include hazelnuts and soya. This poses a serious risk to shoppers with allergies to nuts, hazelnuts, or soya. The affected best-before date is June 30, 2027, and the lot code is 126135. If you have purchased an affected product and have an allergy or intolerance to nuts, hazelnuts, or soya, do not consume it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.

Waitrose Recall

Waitrose launched a food recall last month for its GoodLife FRZ 4 Spicy Veg Beanburger 454g due to plastic contamination. The affected best-before date is July 28, 2027. Waitrose urges customers not to consume this product and to return it to their nearest Waitrose & Partners store for a full refund. A spokesperson added: "We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused."
