Primark has issued an urgent warning for customers to stop using a specific coin purse due to a serious chemical risk. The product, the Primark Colour Block Purse, has been recalled after safety tests revealed excessive levels of harmful chemicals.

Product Details and Chemical Risk

The recalled item is a coin purse in shades of brown, model number 3103002, with barcode 991169270. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) stated that the product contains excessive concentrations of Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), and Short Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (SCCPs). Phthalates are known to cause damage to the reproductive system.

The OPSS explained: "The product presents a serious chemical risk as it contains excessive concentrations of phthalates. Phthalates are harmful to health and may cause damage to the reproductive system." The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Regulations 2008.

Consumer Action Required

Customers who have purchased the affected purse are urged to stop using it immediately and keep it out of reach of children. The item should be returned to any Primark store for a full refund. For further information, Primark can be contacted via live chat on their Help Centre.

The recall was announced as part of a list of all product recalls issued in June 2026. Primark has not disclosed the number of units sold or affected.
