Picnic rules for Plate Day 2026 at Newcastle Racecourse have been confirmed, with picnics only permitted in the Grandstand Enclosure. Attendees are welcome to bring their own food, but only sealed bottles of water can be brought onto the racecourse. Bag checks will be in place on the day.
Premier Ticket Holders and Picnic Protocol
If you have booked Premier tickets and plan to bring a picnic, you will need to enjoy it within the Grandstand Enclosure before re-entering through the Premier Entrance. No alcohol can be brought into the racecourse, but a range of bars will be available to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and free water will be provided due to predicted warm temperatures.
Half Price Drinks and Dress Code
There is added incentive to arrive early on Saturday, with half price drinks available for the first hour only. ChronicleLive will be at the racecourse early to capture well-dressed arrivals. Newcastle Racecourse has also relaxed the Plate Day dress code for hot weather, but two items remain strictly banned.
Event Overview
Plate Day is part of the Northumberland Plate Festival, a key summer event in the North East. With Ladies Day just a month away, the summer events are coming thick and fast. The Hoppings is entering its final weekend as well.
