Morrisons has confirmed a strict medicine rule that applies across all its 1,860 UK stores. The supermarket has notified customers that vouchers cannot be used on pharmaceuticals, including over-the-counter pain relief products such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.
Why Are Medicines Excluded from Voucher Redemption?
The rule is due to strict legislation surrounding the sale of medicines and pharmaceutical services. Promotional offers and discounts on these products can lead to healthcare inequality, which is why they are excluded not only from money-off vouchers but also from discounts through the supermarket's loyalty program, the More Card.
Morrisons Pharmacy Services
Morrisons operates 101 pharmacies nationwide, but the rule also applies to medical supplies available in stores. The supermarket's website states: "Vouchers cannot be redeemed against: Pharmaceuticals, Tobacco, Fireworks, Postage, Alcohol, Stamps, Infant Milk/Formula, Gift Coupons, Gift Cards, Lottery Online Game and Instant Tickets, 'Top-up' Mobile Phone Cards, E Top-up, Digital Christmas Saver Stamps, delivery charges and carrier bag charges."

While voucher use is restricted on a wide range of products and services, there are plenty of goods you can use vouchers on, as well as many ways to save money on your shopping. The supermarket is currently running a Mix and Match 3 for £10 on Meat and Fish as part of a summer BBQ deal, just in time for the World Cup and the upcoming heatwave. You can also register for a free More Card, where you can get personalised offers, discounted prices in store and online, earn points, and get £5 to spend when you reach 5,000 points.

- Open to UK residents aged 18 or over.
- Voucher valid on orders for deliveries or collection during the dates specified on the voucher.
- A minimum spend may apply and details will be set out on the voucher. Any minimum spend shall exclude delivery charges and carrier bag charges.
- Upon inputting the voucher code at checkout, the voucher amount will be deducted from your transaction.
- Voucher codes must be inputted at the time of purchase; refunds will not be issued retrospectively.
