McDonald's has announced a significant change to its menu offerings, leaving many fans disappointed. The fast food giant is discontinuing its long-standing Wrap of the Day promotion from next month, shifting the deal exclusively to its mobile app.

End of an Era for Wrap of the Day

The Wrap of the Day, a staple on McDonald's value menu since 2011, currently allows customers to purchase a rotating daily wrap for just £2.49. However, starting July 14, diners will no longer be able to order these discounted wraps at kiosks or tills. Instead, the deal will be available only through the McDonald's app under a new promotion called "Get Any Wrap in the App." While the price remains at £2.49, customers must place their order via the app before collecting in-store or opting for delivery.

Those ordering at kiosks will have to pay the standard menu price, which ranges from £4.49 to £5.79. The change has sparked a wave of frustration online, with many customers expressing their displeasure on social media platforms like Reddit.

Customer Backlash

In a thread on Reddit's r/McDonaldsUK forum, one user wrote: "BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT." Another fumed: "Well it was the only reason I went to McDonald's so....." A third lamented: "THEY'RE REMOVING WRAP OF THE DAY? ? ? no way.. I miss when it was £1.99." Many customers expressed disappointment that a long-standing value promotion was essentially being withdrawn from restaurant menus.

McDonald's Responds

A McDonald's spokesperson said: "From July 14, our new 'Get Any Wrap in the App' offer will enable customers to redeem any wrap for £2.49, any day of the week, on the McDonald's App. We regularly review the ways we can improve our value offers and moving this new deal onto the app means customers will have more flexibility to choose their favourite wrap on any day they'd like it."

Instead of being limited to a particular wrap based on the day of the week, customers will now have the freedom to select whichever wrap they prefer for £2.49 via the app. The promotion will run between 11am and 11pm daily, though customers are restricted to redeeming it just once per day.

Recent Changes to Other Promotions

The Wrap of the Day overhaul arrives weeks after McDonald's announced significant alterations to its popular Food for Thoughts survey promotion. The scheme has traditionally been viewed by loyal customers as one of the most affordable ways to secure a discounted meal following completion of a feedback survey. However, reports circulated by customers online indicated the offer was being modified from May onwards. Previously, many diners utilised the receipt survey to access a burger-and-fries meal for £2.99. Under the revised format, customers who complete the survey now reportedly receive a complimentary medium fries, cheeseburger, Oreo McFlurry or Smarties McFlurry when they spend £5.
