BMW 2 Series Tops Best Car Air Conditioning as UK Heatwave Hits 38C
BMW 2 Series Tops Best Car Air Conditioning in UK Heatwave

The BMW 2 Series has been named the car with the best air conditioning system on UK roads, according to the latest Auto Express Driver Power survey, as the country braces for a scorching heatwave with temperatures expected to reach up to 38C.

Survey of Over 100,000 Drivers Reveals Top Air-Con Performers

The study, which gathers feedback from more than 100,000 UK motorists, assessed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across various models. BMW's 2 Series achieved the highest approval rating of 92.06%, outperforming popular brands such as Ford and Audi, which did not make the top spot.

Steve Walker, Head of Digital Content at Auto Express, told Express.co.uk: "Almost every new car on sale today has air-conditioning and as drivers we almost take it for granted, but there are definitely good and bad systems in terms of performance, usability and even noise levels."

Top Five Cars for Air Conditioning

The electric Tesla Model 3 came second with a satisfaction score of 89.58%, followed closely by the Ford Kuga at 89.55% and the Tesla Model Y at 89.08%. The Hyundai Tucson and Audi A4 tied for fifth place, both scoring 89.01%.

Walker added: "According to the Driver Power survey results, owners of the BMW 2 Series are certainly happy with the air-con on their cars, and it's important that we all pay attention to what's coming out of the vents in our vehicles."

Heatwave Advice for Drivers

With the UK set to experience a 38C heatwave this week, motorists are reminded to check their air conditioning systems. Walker noted: "The system and its filters will be checked when cars are serviced, but any drop-off in performance in terms of increased time to cool the cabin or extra noise at high fan speeds is worth investigating and getting fixed. Nobody wants to wind up in a heatwave driving a car that isn't as cool as it could be."
