Aldi Slashes Prosecco Price to £5.99 After England World Cup Win
Aldi Slashes Prosecco Price to £5.99 After England Win

Aldi has confirmed a price reduction on its Specially Selected Prosecco, dropping it to £5.99 for a 24-hour period in over 1,000 UK stores. The move follows England's World Cup victory against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday, July 1.

Discount Tied to England's World Cup Performance

The supermarket chain had previously teased the deal earlier in the week. The price cut is part of a promotional campaign where each England win triggers a further reduction on the prosecco. The bottle, originally priced at £7.99, had already been lowered to £6.99 after England advanced from the group stage.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: "We know many shoppers will be getting together with friends and family to watch England throughout the World Cup, so we wanted to make those celebrations even more affordable. With every England victory, shoppers will unlock even bigger savings on our Specially Selected Prosecco."

How the Promotion Works

Each promotional price is available for 24 hours within 48 hours of the relevant match, after which the price returns to £7.99. If England continues its World Cup run, further discounts will apply: a Round of 16 win brings the price to £5.49, a quarter-final win to £4.99, a semi-final win to £4.49, and a World Cup win to £3.99.

Additional Offers and Store Expansion

Aldi is also celebrating Wimbledon 2026 with a special offer on strawberries, giving away thousands of free strawberries and selling punnets of British strawberries for 99p. The retailer sold nearly 1,700 tonnes of strawberries during last year's Wimbledon fortnight, equivalent to 4.5 million punnets.

Aldi, one of the fastest-growing supermarkets in the UK, recently overtook Morrisons to become the fifth largest supermarket chain in the country. It plans to open 16 new stores across the UK in the coming months.
