ABC TV Stations Win FCC License Renewal Approval

The Federal Communications Commission has voted unanimously to renew the broadcast licenses for ABC's owned-and-operated television stations, concluding a review that had drawn public comment.

Commission Decision

The FCC's decision applies to all eight of ABC's wholly owned stations. Commissioners agreed that the stations met the legal requirements for renewal, including serving the public interest.

Some consumer and advocacy groups had filed objections, arguing that ABC's parent company had engaged in controversial programming decisions. However, the commission found no grounds to deny the renewals.
