Secluded Yorkshire Barn with Private Waterfall On Sale for £150k
Yorkshire barn with waterfall for sale at £150,000

A remarkably secluded property in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, complete with its own waterfall and seven acres of land, has been listed for sale with a guide price of £150,000.

A Truly Unique Opportunity

The traditional stone barn, known as Scar House Force, is situated near the village of Muker in North Yorkshire. Its isolated plot promises far-reaching views down the picturesque Swaledale valley. The most extraordinary feature, however, is that the sale includes ownership of a stunning waterfall that cascades into the River Swale, along with part of the river itself.

Estate agency Savills, marketing the property, emphasised the rarity of such a listing. They stated that the inclusion of the waterfall and river segment creates "a truly unique opportunity" for any prospective buyer.

YouTuber's Verdict: Remote Charm Needing Work

The property recently caught the attention of YouTube explorer David Burnip, known online as The Wandering Turnip. During a visit featured on his channel, he described the location as "so remote" and was captivated by its setting.

"If you've ever dreamt of living out in the middle of nowhere, secluded, true peace, then this might be for you," he enthused in his video. He praised the building's structural integrity, lovely interior beams, and intact roof, suggesting it would make "a wonderful camping barn."

However, Burnip was frank about the challenges ahead, acknowledging that the project would require "a lot of work and money" and that buyers would need to use their imagination to realise its full potential.

Historic Location and Breathtaking Feature

The barn is nestled between Muker and Gunnerside, just a short walk from the 16th-century, Grade II listed Ivelet Bridge. The area is steeped in history, with Muker's origins believed to trace back to the Bronze Age.

For Burnip, the crowning glory of the site was the private waterfall. Visibly awestruck, he exclaimed, "Oh my word. Oh, it's magnificent... truly spectacular." He even suggested the pool below would be ideal for a wild swim, adding, "If you weren't sold already, then maybe this will seal the deal for you."

While the stone barn itself requires significant renovation, the combination of vast land, complete privacy, and a dramatic natural water feature presents a rare and compelling project for those seeking an escape in one of England's most celebrated national parks.
