Powys Council has issued an enforcement notice requiring a tenant to remove two poultry sheds that were erected without planning permission on land near Penybont.
The sheds were built on land at Wainddu, Penybont, Llandrindod Wells. Planning officers investigated the site and found the development had been carried out without consent from the council.
Council action over unauthorised development
The enforcement notice requires the tenant to remove the two chicken sheds. The council has a responsibility to investigate and, where appropriate, take formal enforcement action when development takes place without the required permission.
Councillor Richard Church, cabinet member for legal and regulatory services, said: "Planning rules are in place for a reason. They help ensure that the impact of development is properly considered before work begins."
Commitment to planning integrity
He added: "When those rules are not followed, the council has a responsibility to act. This enforcement notice reflects our commitment to protecting our communities, countryside and the integrity of the planning system."
