A businesswoman from Wigan has spent £50,000 transforming every room in her four-bedroom new build into a pink-themed home. Gemma Markland, 30, who owns a bridal gown company, began buying pink and rose gold furnishings months before she and her husband Kyle, 28, moved into their £330,000 property in September 2019.
Within two hours of receiving the keys, Markland started painting the previously white walls. She has since decorated the entire house with pink wallpaper, chairs, lampshades, and other accessories, doing all the work herself with help from family. Her Instagram page, The Markland Home, has attracted nearly 100,000 followers.
Markland said she initially told her husband the pink theme would be limited to her daughter Grace's bedroom and her office, but he later embraced the style. She sources items from stores like IKEA and B&Q, sometimes spray-painting furniture to achieve the perfect rose gold shade. Her favourite room is her dressing room, which features a pink carpet, rug, and plush chair.
