Roman Abramovich's $78m NYC Mansion Plans Spark Outrage

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has submitted revised plans for a stunning multi-million dollar mansion in New York, sparking outrage among locals. The Russian billionaire aims to convert three townhouses on East 75th Street near Central Park into a single five-storey home valued at $78 million.

The plans include an 18,000 square-foot property featuring a swimming pool, sauna, two-floor art room, central atrium, roof-top garden, and a library. Initial proposals were delayed by New York's Landmarks Preservation Commission but were approved after revisions. However, the project still requires clearance from the Department of Buildings.

This comes after Abramovich reportedly received permission to build a spa and pool complex beneath his £125 million West London home, which he purchased in 2009. The luxury complex is expected to cost around £28 million.
