Tottenham Hotspur have already invested over £200million in the summer transfer window, but manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed he is not finished reshaping his squad.
£200m Summer Spending Spree
Despite half of their acquisitions arriving as free agents, Spurs have spent heavily. The new £185m midfield partnership of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes made headlines, along with the £52m signing of Jan Paul van Hecke. Other shrewd additions include Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and veteran goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
"It is not finished yet, our transfer market," De Zerbi said. "I think we can be happier at the end of this transfer market, because I spoke a lot to the owner, the board, and they want to build a very strong team for this season, but to make the base for the future to become great again."
Attacking Reinforcements Sought
De Zerbi is determined to improve his forward line. Manchester City winger Savinho has been linked with Spurs since last summer, and while no offer has been submitted, the 22-year-old could provide competition on the left flank. Up front, Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi—who scored 13 league goals last season—is a target, though Bournemouth are reluctant to sell.
"The target now is to complete the attacking positions," De Zerbi added. "We want the first target, the first level, because anyway we are already important players, but I think to start the new project we need another couple of important players, for sure."
Van de Ven Set to Extend
Tottenham are working on a new contract for Micky van de Ven. His long-term commitment would settle a crucial defensive role, especially with Cristian Romero reportedly moving to Inter Milan. A new-look defence could see Van de Ven partner fellow Dutchman Van Hecke, while Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi add depth.
In goal, Antonin Kinsky earned a new contract and will start as first choice. Juventus are interested in Guglielmo Vicario, and the arrival of Martin Dubravka indicates a reshuffle in the goalkeeping ranks.
Midfield Battle Intensifies
Tonali and Fernandes are set to anchor midfield, but face stiff competition from Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray, Conor Gallagher, and Pape Matar Sarr. James Maddison is back to full fitness, while Xavi Simons is recovering from injury. Lucas Bergvall has expressed a desire to leave, which could fund further signings.
