This figure translates to a value-to-earnings ratio of just 1.36 for dual-income households, with typical monthly mortgage repayments estimated at a mere £325.
North East England Dominates Affordability Rankings
The analysis, which focuses on 300 popular towns for families looking to acquire three-bedroom homes, reveals a pronounced regional divide in housing affordability. The North East of England claims an overwhelming presence on the list, securing seven of the top ten positions. Following Shildon, Peterlee and Ferryhill in the North East occupy the second and third spots, respectively.

Beyond England, the research also identifies the most budget-friendly towns in Wales and Scotland. Ferndale, situated in the Rhondda Valley, leads in Wales with an average three-bedroom home priced at £113,000 and a value-to-earnings ratio of 1.85. In Scotland, the historic market town of Cumnock in East Ayrshire tops the list, featuring an average property value of £113,600 and a ratio of 1.68.
