Leading Scottish property portal ESPC has unveiled the ten homes that proved most popular with house hunters throughout June 2026. The month's most-viewed properties reveal a market driven by strong buyer engagement, a distinct appetite for spacious homes with character, and growing interest in areas outside Edinburgh's traditional hotspots.
Top Ten Properties Attract Over 85,000 Views
The top ten most viewed properties collectively attracted over 85,000 views. All were houses, with large family properties remaining a focal point for buyers. Eight of the top ten properties feature three or more bedrooms, including three substantial five-bedroom properties. Price points spanned from £280,000 to £1,050,000, with an average of £464,500. Excluding the £1,050,000 property, the remaining nine homes were all positioned within a relatively narrow range of £280,000 to £595,000, highlighting sustained and consistent demand throughout the mid-market sector.
Cottages Dominate Buyer Interest
Perhaps the most striking trend this month was the desire for cottages. Four of the top ten homes were cottages, while another property was a cottage-style mid-terraced villa. The considerable interest in these homes indicates that buyers are increasingly placing value on character, charm and a more rural or semi-rural way of life, in addition to the space and functionality provided by larger properties.
Geographic Spread: Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian
Geographically, five of the top ten properties were situated in Edinburgh, while Midlothian demonstrated a particularly robust performance with three homes, and East Lothian accounting for the final two. Within Midlothian, Penicuik stood out as a notable hotspot, representing two of the area's three entries. In Edinburgh, South Queensferry also demonstrated considerable appeal, with two properties featuring in the top ten. Notably, all except one of the Edinburgh properties were situated beyond the capital's bypass, underlining increasing appetite for homes that strike a balance between urban convenience and more suburban or semi-rural settings.
Rapid Transactions and Competitive Pricing
Strong buyer interest resulted in rapid transactions, with seven of the ten properties already under offer by the close of June. All ten homes were listed using an "offers over" pricing approach, demonstrating sellers' confidence and the ongoing competitive nature of the market.
