Ricky Hatton's family have issued a plea for action after the late boxer's £40million estate is said to have 'gone missing' just over a year after his death. The much-loved sportsman took his own life in September 2025, but 13 months on, the Hatton family have been left 'confused and angry' with the process of gaining access to his estate.
It's claimed Hatton was worth around £40m, with the Mancunian believed to have never written a will, which has complicated proceedings following his death.
Family's concerns
Eldest son Campbell has opened up about the situation, having been concerned by the lack of transparency. The 25-year-old told the Daily Mail: "The lack of answers is concerning. I've asked the questions and I can't see why I'm not getting the information."
Meanwhile, dad Ray said: "Campbell isn't grabbing at money, he's not saying, 'Give me and my sisters £5m each'. He just wants to know what is going on and these people are telling him nothing. Why?"
Trust complications
The location of Hatton's assets is said to be complicated. It's said that the majority of Ricky's estate, from his bank accounts, investments and companies, is contained within the Dorothy Hatton Discretionary Trust.
That trust is controlled by Hatton's former secretary, Catherine Lomas, and his former legal adviser, Paul Dodds. But Campbell told the outlet that they have now blocked his phone calls, and have since referred his correspondence to a Newcastle-based law firm, Muckle.
Trustees respond
Campbell now has a solicitor of his own working on the situation, but he's yet to receive the answers he remains desperate for.
As for Lomas, she told the Daily Mail in an email: "We are the trustees of the Dorothy Hatton Discretionary Trust. It would not be appropriate for us to discuss the administration of that trust with you as it is a private matter. However, we take our responsibilities very seriously and have been and remain professionally advised. We do not accept the criticism levelled by your questions."
The Hatton family aren't suggesting wrongdoing on Lomas and Dodds' part.
Ray added: "Everything we're telling you here is not for us – I promise you. We want nothing from Richard's estate. Carol [Ricky's mother] would maybe like his MBE and that's it. The money, whatever else, it's all for his kids, not us.
"But I will tell you something, I do want to know how much was left because when I came off his trust, in 2011, he was well set financially and we've heard a lot of things since then."
