The former Selby police station in Portholme Road has been sold to discount supermarket chain Aldi, North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Zoe Metcalfe has confirmed.
The station had been empty since 2019, when officers relocated to Selby Civic Centre. Plans to leave the site were first announced in 2015, with the move expected to save the force £3.6 million over 30 years.
Ms Metcalfe said the sale marked an important milestone, saving taxpayers' money while improving the service offered by North Yorkshire Police. She added that the move to the civic centre had improved access to officers and allowed them to be more visible in the community.
The force's efforts to work collaboratively with other public organisations and invest in frontline policing will continue, she said.
