A mother-of-two from Devon has won a £4 million mansion and £250,000 in cash through Omaze, after her husband initially believed they had won a lifetime supply of sausages. Emily Ward, 48, landed the keys to a four-bedroom home in the exclusive Cheshire village of Alderley Edge, part of the 'Golden Triangle' known for its celebrity residents.
When the Omaze team arrived to deliver the news, Emily and her husband Richard, 60, were out buying tent pegs. Neighbours contacted them via WhatsApp, and the confusion began. 'One of the Omaze team had a sandwich on their t-shirt, so the neighbour thought I'd won a lifetime supply of food,' Emily explained. Her husband then joked they had won sausages, which he would have been thrilled with anyway.
The stunning property sits in the Alderley Edge Conservation Area, where famous past and present residents include Cristiano Ronaldo, David and Victoria Beckham, and Wayne and Coleen Rooney. The house features dramatic cantilevers, walls of glass, and over 6,300 sq ft of living space across three floors, including an indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, and wine store.
Emily bought her winning entry for just £25 as part of an Omaze subscription. She said: 'It's crazy to think that I might bump into Wayne or Coleen Rooney when popping out for a pint of milk!' The couple celebrated at the pub and with a special bottle of champagne. Emily added: 'My jaw hurts because I haven't stopped smiling since we found out.'
The family can choose to live in the house, rent it out, or sell it to become cash multi-millionaires. Emily said: 'This win means we can think about cutting back on work and just enjoying spending more time as a family.' They plan to enjoy a family holiday and possibly a big Christmas at the mansion, which is mortgage-free with all legal fees covered.
