Mum Earns £2,500 a Month by Renting Out Unused Items

A mother has revealed she makes £2,500 a month by renting out items she no longer uses on online platforms. Confused.com has identified the most profitable items to rent, including designer dresses, marquees, and speaker systems.

According to the study, renting out the top 23 items can bring in over £4,000 monthly. Designer dresses top the list at £255 per rental, followed by marquees at £252 and speaker systems at £201. Campervans average £187, while drones and projectors fetch around £141 and £114 respectively.

Other valuable rentals include laptops (£101), cameras and bikes (£88), amplifiers (£81), camera lenses (£58), and DJ decks (£52). The study notes that households often own multiple items, allowing rental income to double or triple.

Platforms like Fat Llama and Hurr Collective enable users to rent out everything from bridesmaid dresses to health gear. The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, says she started renting out items to declutter and now earns a substantial side income.
