Television sensation Maya Jama has announced a surprise return to her radio hosting roots, ending a four-year hiatus for a special one-off broadcast.
From Radio Retirement to Rinse FM
The Love Island presenter, 31, sent fans into a frenzy on Tuesday when she shared a clip from inside the Rinse FM studios, teasing her comeback to the airwaves. She revealed that a 'very special' person she admires had persuaded her to end her radio retirement for this exclusive appearance.
Maya previously built her radio credentials hosting Radio 1's Greatest Hits on Saturdays and co-presenting the Friday show with Scott Mills and Chris Stark from 2018 until 2020. Her departure from the BBC station in May 2020 came as she sought to pursue other growing opportunities in her career.
A Career Going From Strength to Strength
Since leaving Radio 1, Maya's career has skyrocketed. Her biggest break came in October 2022 when she was announced as the new presenter of Love Island, taking over from Laura Whitmore. At the time, she expressed her excitement about hosting 'one of the nation's favourite shows'.
Beyond television, the media personality has been building an impressive business portfolio. She's launched a successful beauty company and there are rumours of an upcoming Netflix role. Most recently, she's ventured into property investment, following in the footsteps of celebrities like Ed Sheeran and Daniel Radcliffe.
Building a Property Empire
Maya has made a significant career pivot by establishing Penny Property Holdings, her new property investment company. According to sources, she's focusing on buying properties to rent out, creating a stable financial future beyond her entertainment career.
A source revealed that 'Maya is a shrewd businesswoman' who's carefully investing her earnings. This strategy mirrors that of singer Ed Sheeran, who reportedly maintains a £70million property portfolio including an £8.25million office in London's Soho district.
The insider added that property investment represents a 'clever way to invest her money' that will provide both immediate returns and long-term financial growth, ensuring her bank balance continues to expand well into the future.
