Marcus Rashford could be set for a transfer U-turn, as the forward’s Manchester United exit edges closer. The 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona after a prior stint at Aston Villa, is now being linked with a move to a Premier League rival.
Bargain Price Tag Revealed
talkSPORT reports that Manchester United would likely accept a fee in the region of £30m for the academy graduate. Tottenham and Arsenal have registered an interest. Earlier in the window, Rashford had a release clause that would have allowed him to move to any club except Manchester City or Liverpool for a reduced fee, but that clause expired during the World Cup with no takers.
Premier League Move Back on the Table
Rashford had previously been reluctant to join another Premier League club, preferring to stay at Old Trafford. However, after Barcelona opted to sign England team-mate Anthony Gordon instead of making Rashford’s loan permanent, his future became uncertain. Now, he would consider a move to a domestic rival.
Dwight Yorke Advises Keeping Rashford
Former United striker Dwight Yorke urged manager Michael Carrick to retain Rashford. Speaking to BOYLE Sports, Yorke said: “Now I know not everyone will agree but if I was Carrick, the first person I would be going and seeing to have a conversation is Marcus Rashford. You're the manager. You figure it out with him. You make the decisions. You're not there to please people. Don't listen to people on the outside. It's easy to get influenced by pundits. When you get the sack, none of them will be coming to your rescue. Managers always get sacked.”
Rashford's Pre-Season Return
Rashford is currently planning to return to United’s pre-season training after his post-World Cup holidays. He was part of the England team that reached the semi-finals of the World Cup, earning extra time off. United start their 2026/27 Premier League campaign against Hull City, followed by Ipswich Town, with a home match against rivals City early in the season.
