After nearly a decade of fast-paced London life and climbing the corporate marketing ladder, Malvika, 28, decided to trade it all in for the small harbour town of Falmouth, Cornwall. When the app revealed that her top three spending spots were two pubs in Hackney and a McDonald's, she found herself in crisis. Living in London and working a corporate job, she suddenly realised she was out five times a week but wasn't having any fun. She was doing the same things with the same people, spending loads of money, and had nothing to show for it but pints and dinners.
The move to Cornwall has brought significant changes. Malvika now enjoys a slower pace of life, closer to nature, and has found a career that aligns with her values. She says she will never go back to the city, as the quality of life in Cornwall far outweighs the professional opportunities she left behind. The pros include a stronger sense of community, lower cost of living, and more time for hobbies and relaxation. The cons, she admits, are fewer job opportunities and a smaller social scene, but for her, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
