Liverpool have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over a £120million package for winger Bradley Barcola, according to reports. The deal includes £100m paid upfront with £20m in add-ons, as the Reds look to strengthen their attack before the transfer deadline.
Barcola breakthrough on Wednesday evening
The 23-year-old French winger has been a key target throughout the summer, with manager Andoni Iraola in detailed discussions. The breakthrough in communications came on Wednesday evening, and the two clubs have now agreed on the overall package.
According to The Athletic, important final details are being ironed out on Thursday morning. Barcola has two years remaining on his contract at PSG, but reports suggest he had made it clear he did not want to extend his deal, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Limited minutes at Parc des Princes
Barcola found his minutes limited at the Parc des Princes as he was in direct competition with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue for a spot on the flank. However, he still managed to score 13 times and provide seven assists as PSG won Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season.
Ismaila Sarr interest emerges
Liverpool's hunt for attacking reinforcements has been among the most prominent storylines of the transfer window. While a swoop for Barcola remains on the cards, their fleeting interest in Brighton and Hove Albion talent Yankuba Minteh appears to be exactly that.
The Reds have now turned their attention to Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr. Sarr is familiar to Liverpool – not simply due to his displays with Watford and Palace, but also because he appeared on a three-man shortlist during the summer of 2020 while at Vicarage Road.
A deal for the 28-year-old is expected to be in the region of £50million, although the Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool are persistently scrutinising the market as they seek the ideal blend of wingers ahead of deadline day.
