Lidl is set to launch a fresh collection of homeware products this weekend as part of its latest Special Buys promotion. Starting Sunday, September 27, customers will find an array of goods on offer, ranging from rugs and lamps to blankets, bedding and side tables.
Lidl's £19.99 Livarno Side Table
Among the furniture pieces hitting shelves in the coming days is the Lidl £19.99 Livarno Side Table. The piece showcases a "modern" cylindrical aesthetic that marries industrial and natural elements. The barrel-inspired table measures 39cm in width and 37cm in height and also offers a '2-in-1' function by doubling as storage.
According to Lidl's product description, the table features a "modern design with a natural wood effect". Its surface is crafted from 100% FSC-certified timber with a natural wood-effect finish, topped with an "easy-care" melamine resin coating.
The timber surface acts as a removable lid, opening up to expose a 28-litre storage compartment inside - perfect for stashing away throws, reading material or other bits and bobs. The base comprises a robust, open-slat powder-coated steel framework that creates a geometric profile, reports the Mirror.
Comparison with Homebase's £75 option
The £19.99 side table bears resemblance to Homebase's £75 Birlea Axel Fluted Brown Side Table. The DIY retailer says its offering possesses a "blend of modern sophistication and timeless elegance".

Key differences and shopper guidance
At first glance, both side tables appear similar, sharing a cylindrical shape, a flat, circular top, and a slatted wood finish. Ultimately, it's down to shoppers to settle on their preferred style and budget; however, Lidl's offering could well be considered a wallet-friendly option for those taken with the look of Homebase's version.
Despite sharing a cylindrical silhouette and contemporary wood features, the two tables diverge considerably in terms of construction, storage capacity and overall aesthetic. The Homebase model, for example, stands slightly taller at 48cm, measures 45cm across, lacks a hollow centre for stashing items, and boasts a larger flat tabletop that extends over the sides.
Those drawn to a lightweight, industrial vibe with the added bonus of concealed storage might find the Lidl Livarno table the better fit. Meanwhile, shoppers after a more substantial, premium piece of furniture with a rich, continuous wood-grain finish may well favour the Homebase Birlea Axel table instead.
