Kamala Harris Buys $8.15 Million Malibu Mansion

Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, have reportedly made a significant addition to their real estate holdings, acquiring a multi-million dollar mansion in one of California's most exclusive coastal enclaves.

A Multi-Million Dollar Coastal Retreat

According to reports, the couple purchased a luxurious four-bedroom, six-bathroom home in the prestigious Point Dume area of Malibu for $8.15 million. The sale was finalised on 2 December 2025. The 4,000-square-foot property, situated just a stone's throw from the beach, is described as blending modern luxury with its stunning natural surroundings.

The New York Post states that several residents spotted Emhoff in the neighbourhood in the weeks leading up to the purchase, hinting at the couple's new connection to the area. Point Dume is renowned for its celebrity residents, with past and present neighbours including music icon Bob Dylan, actors Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, Gerard Butler, and Owen Wilson.

Inside the Luxury Malibu Estate

The home's listing paints a picture of refined coastal living. The main living area is bathed in natural light and features a built-in speaker system and a gas fireplace. A dedicated home office boasts vaulted wood-beamed ceilings, skylights, and French windows framing breathtaking ocean views.

The primary suite is designed as a private spa, complete with a massive closet, a rainfall shower, a freestanding soaking tub, and double vanities. For culinary enthusiasts, the kitchen is labelled a "chef's dream," outfitted with a stone island and top-of-the-line Miele appliances, including a double oven and a spacious fridge-freezer.

Outdoors, the property offers a "private oasis" with a landscaped backyard featuring a fireplace, television, outdoor kitchen, and dining area. A sunken wet bar with stone counters adds to the entertainment potential. Recreational amenities are plentiful, including a pool, a built-in jacuzzi, a cold plunge, a sauna, and even a private putting and chipping green for golf practice.

Further enhancing the estate's appeal are a separate guest house and a converted garage that now serves as a professional gym with mat flooring and mirrors.

Expanding a California Property Portfolio

This acquisition expands the couple's existing real estate footprint in California. Emhoff owns a 3,500-square-foot home in Brentwood, which he purchased for $2.7 million in 2012, prior to his marriage to Harris. That property, featuring four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, is now estimated to be worth approximately $4.8 million.

Harris's previous property moves include a $1.77 million two-bedroom apartment in Washington, D.C., which she bought in 2017 after being elected to the Senate. She sold that 1,700-square-foot residence for $1.85 million in 2021. While serving as Vice President, her official residence was the historic Number One Observatory Circle, the 9,150-square-foot home that has housed every Vice President since 1977.

The purchase of the Malibu mansion marks a notable investment in a high-profile luxury market, underscoring the couple's ties to California amidst their life in the national political spotlight.
