A three-bedroom house in Brockley, south-east London, has been put on the market for £750,000, with its most striking feature being a giant floral mural that frequently causes passing motorists to stop and stare. The colourful artwork, which covers the entire front façade of the property on Arica Road, was painted in 2015 by Italian street artist Renato Hunter as part of the Brockley Street Art Festival.
The mural, a vibrant array of expressionist faces and flowers, was commissioned during the annual Brockley Max Festival, which invites artists to decorate walls of houses, offices, pubs and shops. Hunter, whose candy-coloured works can be seen across London from Shoreditch to Stratford, usually paints on hoardings or the sides of buildings rather than private homes.
Inside, the house is decorated in much calmer white and blue hues, with wooden floorboards in the downstairs living room and eat-in kitchen. The three bedrooms are on the first floor, with a large loft space in the eaves above. The garden features a decked area with a sloping roof, looking out onto a lawn and a freestanding outbuilding that could serve as a home office or guest suite.
The front garden on the mural side has a neat bed of white stones behind a blocky fence painted black to match the outlines of the artwork. On the roof, solar panels were added in 2014 when the roof was replaced. The property is being marketed by Conran Estates.
