Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky have installed hundreds of solar panels on the roof of their £11 million mansion in Byron Bay, Australia, as part of an effort to reduce energy costs and help the environment. The panels cover the entire roof of the property, which is nearing completion after three years of construction.
The sprawling compound, often compared to a shopping mall, sits close to the beach in the Broken Head area. It features a rooftop infinity pool, a lap pool, a gym, a steam room, six bedrooms, a media room, a games room, and a spa. Landscaping includes palm trees, and an Indigenous mural has been commissioned for one of the walls.
Hemsworth, who earned $76.4 million (£63 million) from films last year, purchased the land in 2014 when it held a Balinese-style villa. That property was demolished in 2016 to make way for the new build, which is expected to be completed next month. The family plans to move in soon, with the pools already filled with water.
